Katannya HartwellInstructor
Katannya is a NCGR-Level I and a Waldorf trained teacher. She has 12 years of experience working with children in both a school classroom setting and in teaching children TaeKwonDo. Katannya began learning astrology as a pre-teen during her step-mother’s initial study. Astrology became a day-to-day experience for Katannya as it was presented in a down-to-earth, personalized fashion. Learning it this way as a child benefitted Katannya greatly when it came to studying Astrology in a more abstract way as a young adult. The names of the signs, planets and houses brought archetype images and thoughts readily providing a deeper sense of the meanings, organically.
In addition to raising 4 of her own children, Katannya has taught children over 12 years, first in the study of TaeKwonDo and later as a Waldorf trained teacher in 1st through 8th grades. She loves how Waldorf brings hands-on artistic activities and movement into the learning, deepening the children’s understanding of a subject. She is excited to apply her teacher training to help children learn astrology through art, music, poetry, writing, and movement that meets the children where they are developmentally.

Kate MareckInstructor
Katherine Mareck, known as Kate, first heard about Astrology at 8 years old, when the musical, Hair, came out. “Peace guiding the planets? Love steering the stars? What is this mysterious power?” Thus began her dabbling in the astrological shallow waters. In her early 30s, as she was rearing her three children, she truly dove in.She worked closely with a professional astrologer, initially to learn the details of her children’s charts. Over the next 25 years, through continued study, she gained a deeper and broader working knowledge of the intricacies of astrology.
Professionally, Kate is a Waldorf teacher in the early grades, Kindergarten through Third. For nearly 20 years, she has taught experientially, finding that children respond readily to content delivered in a warm, “living” way. The covid year has provided Kate with a new skill, online teaching. It has been heartening to find that she is able to forge relationships and bring out children’s artistic and thinking capacities even from a distance, using a two-dimensional platform.
Kate also gardens and cooks, and hikes the woods and mountains around Flagstaff, Arizona, where she lives. When not in the Covid times, she sings and plays guitar with an acoustic trio, Isosceles.
